Step 4. Create Your Backstory

When you begin playing Chalksworn, your character will start with very few immediate ties to other people and places. You have left your former home, of your own volition or not, and taken up the label of a chalksworn ranger.

Take a moment to consider what happened to separate your character from most of their previous relationships and how they ended up pursuing this life. Now is a good time to reference what you rolled for What were you doing last? from Step 2, it can make for a good launching off point for brainstorming.

You should keep this backstory short - no need for more than a few sentences. You will be able to discover and establish more about your character during play.

If you are playing with allies, consider how you have come to know each other and began working together. Make sure that your backstories do not put you at odds with one another, you should want to work together.
